WisePOS E payment terminal unexpectedly loses charge

Updated this week

Please follow these steps if the WisePOS E unexpectedly loses charge in the field. This is typically reported as the device rapidly losing charge or unexpectedly powering off and being unable to power back on.

Ensure that the battery is installed correctly as detailed here.

  • Confirm what hardware is used to charge the device. The following methods are the recommended charging methods for the device.

    • Use the charging cable provided with the WisePOS E plugged into a 10W minimum wall power adapter.

    • If the WisePOS E is installed in the optional Cradle accessory: Use the charging cable provided with the Cradle accessory plugged into a minimum 10W USB-A wall power adapter. Note: Cradle accessory charging is not compatible with a USB-C wall power adapter.

    • Note: It is not recommended that the WisePOS E be charged through a laptop computer. This charging method is not guaranteed to provide sufficient power to adequately charge the device.

  • Fully charge the device using one of the recommended charging methods. An overnight charge is recommended for a device that has been reported to be problematic. Battery charge status is indicated by an icon on screen during charging.

  • If the charging cable you have is not working and you are sure the charging brick is the correct wattage, then you may also be able to try charging it with a Micro USB cable seen in the picture below:

  • After charging, confirm via the battery charge level icon that the battery is fully charged. Use the device as normal.

  • If the device continues to unexpectedly or rapidly lose charge, you will need a new device.
